Heavy rains rattled Mumbai on Tuesday, August 29 and affected many lives in the city. One such was 30-year-old Priyam Ramesh Mainthia who died after suffocating in his own car when he was trapped inside during the torrential rains. He was to marry next month.

On that fateful day, he drove to Sion’s Gandhi Market around 12:00 am where his car broke down. According to eye-witnesses, he was trying to reverse his car.

According to the police, he did not step out of his car and spoke to one of his friends, which turned out to be his last conversation. On Wednesday morning, residents rescued Priyam who was found unconscious in the car. Immediately they called the police and he was rushed to Sion hospital, but he died during the treatment.

Police suspect that Priyam’s death was due to suffocation. To know the right cause, his dead body has been sent for post-mortem.
