The mastermind of IPL betting scandal Sonu Jalan has named another Bollywood celebrity showcasing the strong connection between betting and industry. After Arbaaz Khan, Jalan named director-producer Sajid Khan, who was summoned by Thane anti-extortion cell.
Jalan, who is said to be associated with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, informed the police that Sajid Khan used to place bets on cricket matches around seven years ago. However, the Thane police anti-extortion cell has decided not to send summons to the director as the case is seven-year-old.
Arbaaz Khan, whose name cropped up was summoned by Thane anti-extortion cell where he admitted of placing bets in the IPL matches. Khan also informed police that he knew Jalan for the last six years and he had bet in the 2016 IPL season. He added that after losing lost Rs. 2.80 Cr in betting, he was unable to pay to Jalan. Along with this, he cleared that he did not place bets in IPL 2018.

Thane Senior Police Inspector, Pradeep Sharma got the information that betting on IPL was ongoing in Dombivli. After which a police team led by Pradeep Sharma arrested Gautam Sawla (55), Nikhil (25) and Nitish Punjani (55) from Ramnagar area on May 16. From these people the police recovered the material used for betting. After questioning the culprits in Dombivli, the police arrested Rama Bhia (40) from Malad and Bittu Vrajesh Joshi (27) Mulund.
After getting information of Sonu Jalan on May 29, around 7:00 pm, inspector Rajkumar Kothmire under the leadership of Pradeep Sharma along with Sub Inspector Roshan Devre's team arrested Sonu from Mumbai. Sonu has complaints against him in Malad (2008), Oshiwara (2011), Social Service Branch (2011), and Delhi and Ahmedabad (2015) police stations. The police is now preparing to impose MCOCA on Sonu Jalan.
