On January 4, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) lodged a complaint at the Juhu Police Station against actor Sonu Sood, who was has been in the news for his social work during the lockdown. The civic body has alleged that Sonu Sood converted a six-storey building in Juhu into a hotel without the required permission.

The municipal corporation has stated in the complaint that alterations, unauthorised additions and change of user have taken place at Shakti Sagar building on AB Nair Road in Juhu. It has been pointed out that Sonu Sood has enlarged or extended and changed some parts of the building.

Meanwhile, denying the allegations, Sonu Sood has said that he has taken the permission of the civic body and is waiting for the clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA). "I have always obeyed the law. The hotel was used for the COVID warriors during the lockdown. If I do not get permission, I will convert it back into a residential building. I am going to the High Court against the complaint of the municipality," said Sonu Sood.

In October last year, Sonu Sood had moved the city civil court against the notice sent by the BMC. The court had given the actor three weeks time to go to the high court. However, more than three weeks have passed and the changes made by Sonu Sood have not been corrected yet. Therefore, we have lodged a complaint under the MRTP Act, said the official.
