The case of Sheetal Dama and her disappearance has confused many and has taken quite a number of baffling turns.

On Monday, Sheetal Dama’s body was swept away by a gutter in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, amidst the rains and was later found at Haji Ali beach at 3 am. This incident has created a stir with many blaming the civic body of Mumbai, BMC, for it. However, the officers probing the incident have recently come out asserting that this would be near to impossible indicating that possible foul play might be involved.

The 32-year-old Ghatkopar resident had gone to the flour mill on October 3 with her son. However, after not returning home for hours, the family went out to search for her when they found her body floating near an open manhole. The Police suspected that she had fallen in had therefore extended the search to Tardeo, Mahim, Bandra, Kurla and Saki Naka, where the sewage line led. Eventually, her body was found washed up at Haji Ali.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Darade speaking about the case has stated that there are at least three chokepoints in the drainage line where the body should have gotten stuck adding that if at all the 32-year-old had fallen into the manhole, it should have carried her to the Mithi river at Mahim as the sewage line is not connected to the Worli nullah. Moreover, as per reports, there have been no eyewitnesses to the incident.

Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation P Velrasu had earlier ordered the Deputy Commissioner to inquire into the matter and submit a report within 15 days. With the newer findings in the case, checking the surrounding CCTV footage would be the next step for the officials investigating the matter. Moreover, a case of an untimely death has been registered with Tardeo police.
