Ghatkopar building collapse case saw a new arrest. Following Sunil Shitap's arrest, Parksite police, on Saturday arrested contractor Anli Mandal. He was produced in the Bhoiwada court where he was sent to police custody till 2 August.

Mandal was the one who was looking after the alterations taking place at nursing home which belonged to Shitap. Mandal knew about the removal of pillars and was aware that this renovation could affect the building structure, yet he permitted the removal of the pillars. Mandal has no architect degree and it is being said that he was following the orders given by Shitap and architect Ranjit Aagle.

It is also being reported that Aagle is now on the run and is being searched by Mumbai Police. For police officials, Mandal’s arrest was crucial as he will be able to tell more about the alteration and the undergoing work.

This arrest was based on the 25 July incident, where a four storey Siddhi Sai building collapsed and claimed 17 lives injuring more than 20 people. PM Narendra Modi, on twitter, has announced the help of INR 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and INR 50,000 for the injured.

The Ghatkopar building collapse victim Binita Ramchandani has been seeking justice from CM by taking stringent action against the accused Shitap. Ramchandani's mother was caught under the debris and is now recuperating at Rajawadi hospital.
