The MRA Marg police have arrested a court clerk who forged the signature of the sitting judge on 105 case papers. The accused, 49 year old Maruti Salunkhe, is now behind bars.

Police believe that Salunkhe signed on the case papers which belong to the India Infoline Limited company, against which several cheque bouncing cases have been registered in the last few months.

Police say the Ballard Pier court no 33 judge was surprised to see his own signature on 105 case papers. Upon investigation, it was revealed that his signatures were being forged by his own clerk.

“We have arrested Maruti Salunkhe on the complaint of the registrar Dinesh Hegde for forging signatures. He was presented in court and has been remanded to judicial custody until 20 February,” said Manoj Sharma, DCP, Zone 1.
