11 CISF personnel test positive for Coronavirus

As many as 11 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel have tested positive for novel coronavirus at Panvel near Mumbai. As per the statement of a local civic official said on Friday, five of these had tested positive earlier in the day and six tested positive on Friday evening. With this the total tally has gone to 11.

As per reports, at least 146 CISF personnel including officers had undergone the test for coronavirus and after the test results came the news was announced. The infected CISF personnel were posted at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai.

Panvel Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh too has confirmed this news that 11 CISF personnel that includes 10 jawans and one civilian staff have tested positive.

CISF authorities believe that the jawans got infected at the Mumbai International Airport. All the CISF personnel that were posted Kharghar have now been advised home isolation.

Coronavirus has been spreading like a wildfire in India and Maharasthra has the maximum cases as the moment. The total number of cases breached the 500-mark on Saturday. According to the information shared by the State Health Minister, there are 537 cases in the state as on April 4, 2020.  As many as 47 fresh cases were reported in the state on Saturday. Out of the 47 cases, 28 have been reported in Mumbai followed by 15 in Thane district, 1 in Amravati, 2 in Pune and 1 in Pimpri Chinchwad. In addition to this, 50 people have been discharged after recovering from Coronavirus or COVID-19.
