Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra cross 12-lakhs; 26,408 patients discharged in a day

Over the last few days, the number of recovered patients has seen an increase in Maharashtra. As per the data released by the state health department, the state, for the third day in a row witnessed a high number of patients who have been discharged after a successful recovery from the infection.

As of September 20, Maharashtra had the highest single-day figures of recovered patients, with 26,408 cases discharged in one day. Further, the number of cured patients on Sunday, was more than the newly diagnosed 20,598 cases. With this, the number of patients free from coronavirus infection has reached 8,84,341. The recovery rate in the state currently stands at 73.17 per cent.

Currently, the total COVID-19 tally in the state has crossed the 12-lakh mark with 12,08,642 cases and 32,671 deaths. However, the number of active patients across the state has also declined, and at present, over 2.9 lakh are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Maharashtra. Information regarding the same was given by State Health Minister, Rajesh Tope.

Officials also stated that a 107-year-old and 106-year-old patients from Jalna and Kalyan also recovered from coronavirus infections. The patient from Kalyan was undergoing treatment at Jumbo Hospital in Dombivali and returned home with a happy face, thanking the hospital staff.

The report released on Sunday states that out of 58,72,241 laboratory samples, 12,08,642 have tested positive (20.58 per cent), and currently 18,49,217 people are under home quarantine and 35,644 people are in the institutional quarantine as per the guidelines.

With 455 COVID-19 deaths reported in one day, the tally for the deceased has reached 32,671, taking the case fatality rate in the state to 2.7 per cent.
