As per reports, the suspect from Mumbai was arrested in Kota (Rajasthan) and was living in Kalabakhar area on MG Road in Sion West.

One out of six terrorists arrested by Delhi Police reported to be a resident of Mumbai

The special cell of the Delhi Police, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, arrested arrested a total of six suspected terrorists who, as per reports, were planning terrorist attacks in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi. The officers were able to successfully reveal the major plot of the bomb blast.  

One out of the six suspects is said to be a resident of Mumbai. Identified as Sameer Kalia alias Jaan Mohammad Shaikh, the suspect was arrested from Kota in Rajasthan and is said be a resident from Kalabakhar area on MG Road in Sion West.

Reports reveal that the terrorists were planning to carry out bomb blasts all over the country during the festive season in the upcoming months during Navratri. Jaan Sheikh Kota of Mumbai was heading towards Delhi and was also in touch with Dawood's brother Anis. Mumbai Crime Branch police reached his residence and searched the same, thereby arresting his family members. They have been taken to Dharavi police station for further questioning and investigation. 

Officials stated that a crowd had gathered in front of Dharavi police station as well.

Besides Jaan, the Delhi Police have arrested a total of five suspected terrorists who were planning the attacks under the supervision of the ISI. The arrested accused were collecting arms and ammunition, however, the Special Cell and the ATS upon knowing about the incident raided Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Three suspects were arrested here and the weapons were seized.

A report published in the India TV states that the terrorists were planning their activities before the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The publication quoted Neeraj Thakur, Special CP, Delhi Police Special Cell who said, "The arrested have stated that there were 14-15 Bangla speaking persons in their group who might be taken for similar training. It looks like this operation was closely coordinated from across the border."

Besides Jaan, officers have arrested Osama aka Sami (22), Mohd Abu Bakar (23),  Zeeshan Qamar (28), Mohd Amir Javed (31), and Moolchand aka Saaju aka Lala (47).
