According to sources, the police have busted a pathology lab in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, selling fake COVID-19 reports for just INR 500. The crime branch has arrested four people, including the owner of the pathology lab.

Moreover, Enamulhaq alias Rabbani Anwarul Haq Syed (31, resident of Bhiwandi), Aftab Alam Mujibullah Khan (22, resident of Piranipada), Mohammad Sharik Mohammad Sabir Sheikh (20, resident of Shantinagar) and Mehfuz Alam Mujibullah Khan (29, resident of Bhiwandi) have been arrested and are to remain in police custody till April 30.

In the Shantinagar Gabinagar area of Bhiwandi, the police had received information that people were being given positive and negative reports for INR 500 without actually conducting the tests. In view of the situation, the police sent a man to the Mahfuz Pathological Laboratory around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, April 21, to take a negative report for the coronavirus. At the same time, three people from the Mahfuz Clinical Laboratory were caught red-handed using the letterhead of a reputed lab called Thyrocare without taking a swab or sample for the RTPCR examination.

In addition, during the search of the Mahefuz Clinical Laboratory, reports of 64 different people (RTPCR examination) have been found. Of these, 59 reports are negative and 5 reports are positive. Lab technician Enamulhaq alias Rabbani and lab manager Aftab Alam Mujibullah Khan were questioned in the case. As per reports, he has confessed that the RTPCR inspection report was prepared in the lab with the help of mobiles, laptops, pen drives, computers and printers.
