Former corporator Ashok Sawant killed in Kandivali

As per reports, unknown assaulters killed Ashok Sawant at around 11:00 PM when he was returning home after meeting a friend.

A former Shiv Sena corporator, Ashok Sawant, 62, was attacked and murdered by unidentified assaulters in Mumbai last night. As per the information received from the police, Ashok was attacked at around 11 PM while he was on his way back home, after meeting his friend. He has served as a corporator for two-terms from Samata Nagar in Kandivli.

The police reached the spot for investigation thereafter, and samples have been taken for forensic investigations. However, the reason behind the murder has not been found yet.

Reports confirm that he was declared dead when taken to Sai hospital immediately after the attack.

After the incident, the police arrived at the spot and painted the spot and collected samples for the forensic. However, what has been done for the purpose of murder has not been revealed yet. There is tension in the area after this incident.

The body was sent to Bhagwati Hospital for Postmortem. Police have registered a murder case against unknown assailants and have started a hunt for the accused. CCTV footage of the building is being observed to identify the culprits.

Ashok was involved in the cable TV business. His brother Subhash Sawant is currently working as Assistant Commissioner of Police with Mumbai Police.
