The Kalyan-Baroda-JNPT highway work is underway in the Balyani area near Titwala. A three-year-old girl, Rahmunisa Riaz Shaikh, died on Friday afternoon after falling into a five- to six-foot water-filled pit dug for this work. In this case, the Titwala police have registered a case against the contractor company working on the highway.

The procession of Sheikh Pir Valli Shah Baba is going on in Lyani from Tuesday. Riyaz Shaikh from Meera Bhayandar along with his family had come to visit his relatives in Titwala. During the afternoon, while playing outside the house, Rahmunisa came near the pit. While playing, she lost her balance and fell into a six feet pit which was filled with water.

Former corporator Mayur Patil said that this happened due to negligence of the contractor.
