The Mumbai Sessions Court has cancelled bailable warrant against actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit and run case. In the first week of April, the court had issued a bailable warrant against Khan after the actor did not complete the procedure of providing surety (a guarantor for good behaviour) on the past two date.

Special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat told Economic Times that Salman had to appear before the court to furnish surety as per the Supreme Court’s direction which admitted the government’s appeal.

The HC had acquitted Khan in December 2015 of all criminal charges for a lack of substantial evidence, seven months after the sessions court had held him guilty.

In 2002, Salman Khan was accused of running his car over some people who were sleeping on the pavement in Bandra, killing one. The trial court had then awarded him a five-year jail term.
