In a really weird revelation, a lecturer from IIT Bombay has been arrested in a ‘bicycle theft’ case. Yes, you heard that right!

Powai Police have solved the mysterious bicycle theft case where bicycles from IIT Bombay were being stolen. A 33-year-old engineer allegedly used to sell these cycles on OLX.

Powai police have seized around seven cycles from him.

As the IIT campus is large in area, many students and professors preferred commuting internally on bicycles but in recent times, many cases came to light where there were complaints about them going missing.

On October 5, a 25-year-old student’s expensive bicycle went missing and as the number of cases had risen, Powai police decided to keep a close eye on the IIT campus. On October 16, a suspicious person was seen lurking around another expensive bicycle. Powai police were notified about it and they nabbed the thief.

The accused is a lecturer at IIT Bombay and used to wander around the campus with a spare key. On seeing expensive bicycles, he used to try his luck and unlock them. After stealing them, he sold them on OLX,” Anil Pofale, Senior Police Inspector, Powai Police Station.
