On Tuesday, October 12, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said that he had no information about Mumbai Police keeping a watch on senior officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Mumbai zonal director of the agency Sameer Wankhede.

Commenting on the claims, Patil stated that he had no such information about Mumbai police keeping a watch, and no such orders were issued.

For the unversed, on Monday, October 11, Sameer Wankhede and senior officials of NCB met with the state director-general of police Sanjay Pandey. He had complained that some people are following him for the past few days. An NCB officer told the news agency PTI that to support his claims, he had submitted CCTV footage to the police alleging that two policemen were monitoring his movement.

Wankhede regularly visits Oshiwara cemetery, where his mother is buried after her death in 2015. The official added that two officials from the Oshiwara police station allegedly took CCTV footage from the cemetery to monitor his movement.

Wankhede has recently busted a drug case and arrested Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and his friend Arbaaz Merchant. Previously, he had also worked on a drug case that was in connection with the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
