The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) along with the Maharashtra government is planning to implement stricter rules for the city, parents of the groom were arrested for violating the COVID-related norms in the wedding. Moreover, they were fined INR 50,000.

According to reports, the wedding was organised in Duparepada village in Wada taluka of Palghar district in Maharashtra with over 300 guests on Sunday evening, March 14.

The district officials landed at the venue and found that people without face masks and social distancing norms were also violated.

As per the new regulations, there is a cap of 50 people in place for weddings, while all other public gatherings – social, cultural, political and religious – have been completely banned. People should be encouraged to attend online darshans. The trustees are entrusted with the task to make sure that there is no crowd at the religious places. For the funeral, not more than 20 people are allowed to attend.
