Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) engineer, Suryakant Deshmukh, for taking a bribe worth ₹20,000. Allegedly, Deshmukh demanded a bribe from the contractor for passing the bill.  

MHADA had appointed contractors for repairing the cess buildings in Solapur’s MSS Lane and the bill amounting for the same was ₹8 lakh. It has been informed that the engineer of C-3 board’s division asked the contractor to bribe him with two per cent of the total bill and extra ₹5,000. The engineer has confessed to the crime.

As this happened, the contractor filed a complaint against the engineer with ACB. Aftermath, Deshmukh was caught red-handed and police took him into their custody while investigating in Deshmukh’s Chandanwadi office. Speaking on the same, MHADA’s senior official said that they will demand the suspension of the accused.
