The much-awaited Mumbai Rains are here and as a part of the process, The Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority (MHADA) has surveyed the old and dilapidated buildings in Mumbai. As per the list released this year, officials have marked 18 buildings in the city as 'high-risk buildings.' The number of buildings has increased in comparison to last year, where, in 2019, Mumbai had a total of seven high-risk buildings was seven.
The process to survey the buildings was conducted by MHADA's Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board, and it states that there are 540 occupants in these high-risk buildings. Of which, 121 residents have made their own alternative arrangements. So far, 20 residents have been relocated to transit camps and arrangements will be made for 354 residential tenants/residents
