Mumbai-based hotelier, son and employee arrested over a brutal death

Three Mumbai-based businessmen - a hotelier, his son, and an employee – have been arrested by MRA Marg police officials recently. As per reports, a complaint has been filed of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and it is said that the trio - Noor Ul-Amin Abdul Rehman Shaikh (57), Mohammad Ali Noor Ul-Amin Shaikh (26) and Ateeq Ur Yusuf Rehman (33) - was related to the death of a 49-year-old Pydhonie resident.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the resident was assaulted in the night on Saturday, December 24, 2022. The accused are owners of a hotel in the city and are residents of Mumbai Central. The deceased, identified as Hanif Rahiman, managed a hotel owned by Shaikh and owing to a dispute, Shaikh wanted Rahiman to vacate the hotel, which led to further arguments for several hours, post which the trio assaulted Rahiman in the premises, leaving him severely injured.

He was rushed to the hospital, on December 16, where he underwent angioplasty surgery, post which he was recuperating at his residence, however, during the incident on December 24, he collapsed and upon admission at the hospital, he was declared dead. A police case was registered, and officials conducted detailed investigation. Statements were recorded who informed the team about the incident.

Officials shared more information regarding the incident. Quoting an officer, the publication reported, “As per the preliminary investigation it appears that Rahiman died due to some internal injury. We are waiting for the final medical reports of the deceased.”

Rahiman’s brother-in-law filed a complaint which was registered under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and other relevant sections, post which thee accused were arrested, produced before the court, and then sent to judicial custody.
