Police nab imposters who duped people by promising them jobs

What's the story

A bunch of imposters have been arrested by Andheri Police for running an inter-state scam which duped youngsters.

This scam was about promising young people jobs abroad and extracting money out of them. This gang functioned in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai.

This time, they set up shop at Goregaon and were nabbed by the police there. The police have arrested Amit Patole (39), Amardeep Chauhan (28), Sarfaraz Mohammad Ali Shaikh (43), and Abdul Salam Gulzar Ahmed Ansari (29), in connection with the job racket which was worth crores of rupees.

Amit was the mastermind behind the plan, Amardeep the one who spoke to people interested and the other two used to work in their setup.


This is how they scammed people

This scam was very well organised and executed. They set up an office in a commercial complex and started advertising about applying for jobs out of India in UP and Rajasthan.

They duped applicant for money ranging from INR 40,000 to INR 1,00,000. After people paid that amount, their passports were taken and they were handed a tourist visa. After they bagged some cash after a few deals, they wrapped up their setup and fled.


Money involved in this scam 

• In 2014, under the name ‘Delta Solutions’, this group scammed 180 people for INR 16,00,000.

• In 2015, 500 unemployed people in Kandivali were scammed for INR 1.5 Crore.

• In New Delhi, 464 people were duped for 1.6 Crore, 150 people in Dewariya, UP, according to zone 10 DCP, Navinchandra Reddy.

This gang was so secretive about their little ‘project’ that none of them knew where the other stayed. Police have recovered 10 computers, cash, gold from them.
