It can be a real setback when you book a brand new automobile only to realise that the showroom manager has stolen it!

This has actually happened in Borivali where the showroom manager did not flee with one but 60 bikes after taking an advance payment from 60 people.

Borivali police received nearly 60 complaints from the vicinity and Kandivali as well where people said that they had booked bikes at Jayna Auto Showroom ahead of Diwali and had planned to take possession after the festival.

On October 19, the victims found the showroom shut and the suspects were nowhere to be seen.

Gunaji Sawant, Senior Inspector with Borivali police told Hindustan Times that a complaint has been registered against the owner and the manager after receiving 60 complaints in the last one week.

The police are speculating that the buyers were scammed for INR 20 lakh and the number might go up if more people come with complaints.

Borivali police added that the showroom was 2-3 years old and they collected documents and booked the duo under section 420 of IPC.
