A 16-year-old boy literally followed the saying ‘everything is fair in love and war’. He not only went missing (purposely) but made a call to his own family and asked for INR 50 lakhs as a ransom, with an intention to run away with his girlfriend and settle down.

On September 22, a family who resides at Sakinaka, received a call from an unknown number who told them that their son was kidnapped and asked for a ransom of INR 50 lakhs. Family panicked and went to the police station where Crime Branch, Unit 10 took over the case.

They informed the Crime Branch that the kidnapper had called and asked the members to reach Manora, Palghar with money. The police then reached the spot and rescued two boys from Laxmi Residence Lodge, Manora.

When the investigation was conducted, the Crime Branch came across a startling information. A 16-year-old boy was weak in his studies and he did not want to continue further education. So, he decided to elope with his girlfriend and her family but had no money. Then he took help of his childhood friend (19) who made the ransom call.

Crime Branch, Unit 10 has handed over the boys to Saki Naka police, confirmed Nisar Tamboli, Crime Branch, DCP.
