Mumbai Police recently intercepted two fishing boats in the sea waters and arrested 10 men present in them. As per reports, it is said that the men were carrying foreign brand cigarettes, liquor bottles, and US Dollars worth ₹13 lakh.

Information received by the police states that the men had no license for fishing, and keeping this in concern, Coast guard detained and handed them to police at Yellow Gate station. They failed to answer questions raised about the possession of the currency and alcohol. Suspecting the smuggling cartel, the police have arrested and booked then under sections of Indian Penal Code and The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).

Upon further investigation, it has come to light that this was not related to terrorism. However, further questioning is being considered to understand the illegal business.
