Retired ACP Shamsher K Pathan had written a letter back in July 2021 to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, alleging that during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, the DIG ATS, Param Bir Singh confiscated Ajmal Kasab, the terrorist’s phone, reported the news agency ANI.

According to Pathan, Singh ensured that the phone never appeared either in the probe or the trial. Pathan was quoted by the news agency stating that he wrote a letter in this regard in July 2021.

Pathan is of the opinion that Singh should be arrested by the NIA for the destruction of evidence. Pathan believes that Singh sold the recovered evidence to ISIS or utilized the information for extortion.

In the letter, Pathan mentioned that Singh who was then posted with the anti-terrorism squad took Kasab’s phone from a constable who was in the custody of it. Adding that he never returned it, nor did he apprise his seniors about the same.

Pathan claimed that Kasab’s phone was of significance since he was taking orders from his handlers. The police had arrested Kasab at Girgaum Chowpatty where his batchmate N R Mali as well as his team recovered the phone from the terrorist. He mentioned that DIG Singh took it from constable Kamble’s custody.
