A special court in Mumbai sanctioned the request from Enforcement Directorate (ED) of Nirav Modi's extradition as the businessman failed to pay back the loan of $2 billion and later eloped from the country. Subsequently, now that the court has permitted ED for the extradition of Modi, the proceedings for the arrest will begin soon.

Judge MS Azmi permitted the central agency to initiate the extradition procedure. Hiten Venegaonkar, ED’s lawyer said that the order will now be sent to the Ministry of External Affairs, who will forward it to the British Government. The order came in response to the application filed by the agency yesterday in the special court.
