A gang of thieves has become active in Khandeshwar and New Panvel Colony, stealing gold chains from the necks of pedestrians. After three forced thefts on the same day on February 5, a 73-year-old man who was on foot faced robbery again on February 14. Four incidents of looting in 9 days have left pedestrians in a panic.


On February 5, a 44-year-old woman in Khandeshwar was walking her pet dog outside on the road in front of Shivkrupa Apartment in Sector 1, when a thief grabbed her mangalsutra around 8:50 pm. When the women went to the police station to file a complaint, they found out that the same thieves had robbed two more people at the police station. In the second incident, thieves stole a gold chain from the neck of a 48-year-old man living in Sector 4 at Shiva Complex. In the third incident, the police station found that a 37-year-old man was robbed by the same thieves on the road in front of the Puma showroom. All these incidents were registered together in Khandeshwar Police Station.

After these incidents, it seems that everything will be fine in Khandeshwar and Navin Panvel area, two days ago (February 14), a 73-year-old woman living in Sector 19 of Navin Panvel was walking when a thief came and snatched the gold chain from the old woman's neck and ran away. The incident took place at Road No. 16 in Sector 12 at 11:30 am.


The four incidents in nine days have raised questions about the police security system in the colonies of Khandeshwar and Navin Panvel. Residents are asking whether the fear of the police has decreased due to the occurrence of these incidents during the day and evening. Police patrols in this area as well as blockades on the main roads of the city have become more necessary. The CIDCO board has installed CCTV cameras in this area. However, the police are yet to trace the thieves.
