A fresh non-bailable warrant has been issued against former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh regarding the extortion cases lodged against him, highlighted an account by the ANI. The Maharashtra home department last month, suggested that the former police commissioner be declared an absconder and sought the Intelligence Bureau’s assistance to find him.

Officials from the home department have mentioned that the legal procedure to proclaim Singh an absconder has been initiated. According to the report, this is the third warrant against Singh which has been initiated regarding the extortion case lodged at the Marine Drive police station in Mumbai.

On Monday, November 8, two serving police inspectors were nabbed in the same case after hours of investigation by the state investigation department. The extortion case was lodged against Singh, dismissed police officer Sachin Waze and others on July 23 the investigation of which was later given to the Mumbai Crime Branch.

On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Singh to record a statement in regards to the INR 100cr money laundering case against Anil Deshmukh, the ex-state home minister. Singh had claimed that Deshmukh asked Waze and other cops to collect INR 100cr monthly from restaurants and bars in Mumbai.
