Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) authorities have stated that the Purple ecstasy drug which is also known as Methylene dioxy meth amphetamine (MDMA) is compact and colourful and looks similar to fancy chocolate.

Recently, a 25-year old Malad resident Utkarsh Patange was arrested outside Inorbit Mall for selling a drug that is being dubbed as "Purple Ecstasy". The Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) has seized 97 tablets which were worth ₹4.85 lakhs from Utkarsh. ANC official has stated that Purple Ecstacy is slowly becoming a very popular drug among college students.

He further added that the Purple Ecstasy drug which is also known as Methylene dioxy meth amphetamine (MDMA) is compact and colourful and looks similar to fancy chocolate. It is very harmful and addictive and people should report to the police immediately if they come across this drug or something similar. Notably, these drugs are psychoactive drugs which means that it alters the brain's function resulting in temporary changes in perception, mood, consciousness and behaviour.

Police are further conducting raids at several places in order to curb the trade of Purple Ecstasy. They are keeping a close eye on malls and colleges across the city as it is one of the meeting points for drug sellers and buyers. Further investigation on the supplier of the drug is underway.
