Considering the rise in mobile theft cases, RPF might impose Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against mobile thieves in order to lower mobile theft cases
Considering the increasing number of mobile theft cases taking place in Indian Railways, Railway Police Force (RPF) have bracing up to catch hold of mobile thieves who have been creating havoc and nuisance. So far, of 16 mobile thieves, 11 have been arrested. RPF is now planning to impose Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against mobile thieves in order to lower mobile theft cases.
Day by day, the number of passengers traveling by local trains have increased. On one hand, where daily rush has been affecting commuters, mobile thieves seem to steal a number of mobile phones. So far, more than 50 mobile theft cases have been registered.
Police have made a list of 16 mobile thieves of which they were successful in arresting 11 and their names are, Khatif Sheikh, Rafique Patel, Shakeel Khalil Ahmed Sheikh, Deva Bhalreo, Siddhesh Kakkad, Imran Ali Mehmood Ali Sayyed, Abdul Wahid Makbool Mansuri, Suresh Salvi, Mahavir Verma, Aasif Zaakir Multani, and Sahil Abdul Kayyum Sayyed.
Police found out that mobile thieves were getting released on bail and were committing crimes. In order to tame the thieves, police might start imposing MCOCA. In the last five months, 966 mobile theft cases have been reported and 183 mobile thieves have been arrested.
