Violence against doctors: Three Resident Doctors At Nair Hospital Attacked By Patient's Family Members

Another incident of violence against doctors has come to light within a month of assault on two doctors in Kolkata, which was followed by a countrywide protest by doctors.  

In Mumbai, Rajkishore Dixit (50) had been admitted at BYL Nair Hospital for a month due to tuberculosis, HIV and pneumonia and died on July 14 at 6:30 pm. 

After the doctors broke out the news to deceased patient's relatives, they stormed to ward number 23 and attacked three doctors viz Dr. Gaurav Gunjan, Dr. Dipali Patil and Dr. Moiz Vora claiming that they had removed the ventilator pipe which caused his death.  They further damaged the hospital property and started attacking the security guard as well.

The senior doctors complained at Agripada Police Station after which an offence under section 353, 332, 504, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against them and the police have further arrested a few relatives. 

The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) have condemned the act and urged the government to amend the Doctors Protection Act and take strict action against violence against doctors.
