Mumbai – In one of the biggest cases of gold smuggling involving foreign nationals, the officers of AIU, CSI Airport, intercepted six Chinese passengers on their arrival. 

The personal search of them resulted in the recovery of crude gold chains with a pendant depicting Lord Buddha, buckles made of crude gold attached to the leather belt worn around their waist and crude rectangular gold plate depicting Tibetan deities, all collectively weighing 6.176 kgs and totally valued at Rs 1,85,28,000. 

The recovered gold items were seized under relevant sections of the Customs Act. The passengers have admitted to their crime and they are being placed under arrest. Further investigation is underway in this case.
