On Tuesday, September 28, a 24-year old man was arrested by police for allegedly raping his 17-year old cousin on several occasions residing in the Thane district.
An official from the district rural police control room said that the accused was arrested from a village in Bhiwandi taluka.
The girl became pregnant after her cousin raped her, said police on Wednesday, September 28.

As per the civic official, the victim and her cousin lived in the same house, and he allegedly raped her on several occasions.
On Sunday, September 26, the 17-year old girl gave birth to a child in hospital. When the mother learned about the incident, she lodged a police complaint against the accused.
After the accused was arrested, he was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Recently, Mumbai witnessed two horrific incidents where a woman was raped in Saki Naka, and later a pointed object was inserted in her private parts that reached her abdomen.

In another incident, a 15-year old girl was gang-raped in Dombivali, and a case was registered against 29 people.
According to the statistics on the Mumbai Police's website, authorities have registered 550 cases of rape from the island city until July this year.
