Poverty is the root of many problems. There have been several instances when someone is driven to do unsaid things due to poverty and similarly, three people from the same family committed suicide after being fed up with poverty. The family consisted of a man, his wife, and their child.
According to the Cuffe Parade Police, Praveen Patel lived at Machhimar Nagar in the slum area of Cuffe Parade, with his wife Reena Patel and a child, Prabhu Patel. Praveen used to feed his family by doing miscellaneous work but still, Praveen couldn’t make both ends meet.

However, locals said that Praveen drifted into depression after his younger daughter died due to cancer a few months ago. The family wasn’t able to live with the fact that they couldn’t treat their daughter due to lack of money and this led Praveen to the decision of mass suicide.
Police have also received a suicide note from the dead body, which was written by Praveen Patel. The Cuffe Parade Police has registered a case under the ADR.
