Under the new laws that came into force in the state from July 1, 244 cases were registered across the state till late night. When it comes to theft of property or serious crimes, the first case of robbery was registered under IPC 309(4) in Ahmednagar Taluka Police Station.
The first case of cyber fraud was registered at the DB Marg police station in Mumbai. 53 cases were registered in Mumbai under the new law. Under the new law, there is also a provision to file an online complaint. Accordingly, eight online complaints have been received by the state police till noon.
The Indian Judicial Code, the Indian Civil Security Code and the Indian Evidence Act have come into effect from July 1. As of late Monday night, 244 cases have been registered in the state under the new law. According to the provisions of the new laws, a case number 561/2024 was registered under section 309 (4), 3 (5) of the IPC at Ahmednagar Taluka Police Station. Senior officials informed that this is the first offense when it comes to property theft or serious crimes. A case was registered against some robbers at Ahmednagar taluka police station at 3:25 am. Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla informed that this can be said to be the first crime of property theft in the state.
On the other hand, the DB Marg police station in Mumbai registered the first case under the new provisions of the Act under the category of cyber crime. In it, a person named Dilip Singh has been cheated of 73 thousand rupees in the name of giving a loan. This incident took place on June 26. But after the complaint and its verification, this case was registered on July 1 around 2.30.
Till night in Mumbai, 53 cases were registered under the new law. Also, Bhusawal Railway Police under Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Railway Police has filed the first 'Zero FIR'. The officer said that the case has been registered in the concerned police station. Under the new law, there is also a provision to file an online complaint. Accordingly, eight online complaints have been received by the state police till 1 pm.
The state police had started preparations from January for speedy and effective implementation of the new criminal laws. More than 25 thousand policemen were trained under it. Mumbai Police has also trained 1800 officers and more than 8000 employees in more than 30 training sessions. 74 short audio tapes have been prepared for proper execution of these crimes. Also, 258 master trainer police personnel have been made available at the district and sub-divisional levels to provide immediate information. Along with it, study materials and soft copies have been given to every police station staff.
Besides, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 23 has trained CCTNS operators and officers in-charge of police stations on the new system. The Maharashtra Police Academy has translated the three new laws into Marathi and prepared books. So far 23 notifications and 23 proposals have been sent regarding this Act. Three of them have been issued and the rest are under verification.
