Worli hit-and-run case: Accused Mihir Shah remanded to 14 days of judicial custody

Mihir Shah, the main accused in the Worli accident case in Mumbai, was again produced by the police on July 16 before the court. After examining all the evidence, the court read the confession given by Mihir to the police and sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. On July 7, Sunday in the wee hours of the morning in the Worli area, Mihir Shah drove a BMW car and ran over a couple.


The accident took place near Atria Mall in Worli. The Nakhwa couple went to Sassoon Dock in the morning to buy fish on their two wheeler. While returning home with fish, the couple’s two wheeler got struck by the accused’s speeding car which made Pradeep Nakhwa fall to one side and the car dragged Kaveri Nakhwa to a distance which claimed her life. 


Mihir was absconding after this accident. But after a two-day search operation (July 9), Mihir was arrested. After that, the police produced him before the court. The court sent him to judicial custody till July 16 for further investigation. After that, the police once again produced him before the court. At this time, the police sought Mihir's judicial custody for another 14 days, which was granted by the court.

Arrested after 60-hour manhunt

Mihir had fled after the accident. The police were on his trail for three days. Mihir had absconded after cutting his beard and hair, he had also switched off his phone. But the Crime Branch team arrested him after a 60-hour search operation.

What did Mihir say in the police investigation?

After his arrest, he was sent to police custody till July 16. In the course of his interrogation, he had told about his drinking habit. Mihir Shah fled from Worli after the accident. After that he went to Virar and went into hiding. He went to a salon to get his beard and haircut to hide his identity. He also admitted in the police interrogation that he took this step to mislead the police. Mihir Shah is the son of Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde faction former leader Rajesh Shah.
