The fictional movie follows the life and events that take place in the lives of a petty thief called Hanumanthu. One day, while in the middle of the sea, he notices a gem and takes it. He realises that the gem has given him the powers of Lord Hanuman. He is trying to come to terms with his new reality when danger surrounds his village.
A Mumbai-based superhero named Michael is threatening the village people to gain more and more power. This leads Hanumanthu to an extraordinary situation. Now, he must defend and protect his village and the people in it. This he must do while also trying to understand and deal with his newly gained powers.
Throughout this adventure, there are a lot of lessons in store for our superhero. He must come to terms with his superhero destiny. To be a good superhero, he must understand the exact difference between good and evil. Further, he also has to grasp the true meaning and responsibilities of the powers he has gotten.
Prasanth Varma, the director of the movie Hanu-Man has recently opened up about the influences that led to the movie. He said that he has been highly passionate about the itihaas-related stories that he was taught in school. He elaborated that the characters from these mythological stories inspired him to make a movie. Prasanth expressed that he started with making a superhero movie because he felt that he was not mature enough to make proper itihaas-related movies. He hopes that gradually, he will become big enough and mature enough to do justice to the big stories.
The director also talked about other superhero movies that the Hanu-Man movie is being compared with, such as those in the West. In one of the interviews as part of the promotion of the movie, he explained that he has wanted to work with the genre for a long time. But when it came to figuring out the story, he wanted it to be more culturally rooted and indigenous. He started with some superhero ideas based on Indian mythology and developed them.

Hanu-Man release on ZEE5 OTT and theatres has happened this year in several languages like Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil dubbed versions of the film. Shortly after the release, there were reports that a 3D version with some extra scenes would be released in the summer of 2024.
