Coronavirus cases have seen a significant rise across several districts of Maharashtra and keeping the same in mind, the state government has decided that the admission process for Class XI (FYJC) will now be held online.

Talking about the same, State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, on Friday, March 6, 2021, informed the Legislative Council that a decision will be taken on how to make the admission process will be conducted in the next academic year. She also responded to the question posed by MLA Satish Chavan during Question Hour regarding cancellation of online admission process in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation area.

As per reports, the government implemented this online admission process on the basis of quality and transparency. Admission and fees were taken online due to the pandemic and this benefited several students across the state. Furthermore, candidates from other areas are also taking admission online as per the process and it is said that some seats would remain vacant as a small number of students will choose different courses.

However, the government will ensure that no seat is left vacant, said Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad. Besides her, the Leader of Opposition Praveen Darekar, Member Vikram Kale and Abhijit Vanjari also participated in the discussion.

Meanwhile, after the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, was enacted, the National Council of Teacher Education has made changes in the qualifications of teachers who are teaching upper primary classes, i.e. from grades VI to VIII.

Minister Gaikwad also informed the Legislative Council that as per the government circular issued on 13 October 2016, instructions have been given at the regional level to implement pay scale for these teachers.

She addressed the same while answering a question posed by Member Kapil Patil during Question Hour regarding the implementation of a pay scale for primary graduate teachers and special teachers in the state. Gaikwad also mentioned that a meeting will be held soon with MLA Kapil Patil in this regard.
