Following a meeting of the Core Committee established under the 'Amrit Mahotsav of Independence' on December 5, 2022, the Maharashtra government has allocated INR 14.3 crores to develop 13 historic schools in the state. The information was made public in a government resolution (GR) released yesterday, 20 September.

According to the resolution, funds have been approved to develop schools where historic figures received their education. The School Education and Sports Department will be responsible for implementing this initiative. They have been granted administrative approval to develop these schools.

The Director of Cultural Affairs Office will oversee the distribution of the grants to the concerned departments through the BEAMS system. The Director of Education (Primary), Primary Education Directorate, Maharashtra State, Pune, will present the bill to the Treasury for fund withdrawal. They will also submit the utilisation certificate of the expenditure to the government through the Director, Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Mumbai.

In total, a sum of INR 14,30,20,000 has been allocated. The expenditure will be charged to the budget head Demand No. ZD-2, Major Head 2205, Art and Culture, (102) Art and Culture, (13) Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, (13) Programmes under Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
