Three students were injured when a slab of Ranade Bhavan fell on Monday in the Kalina campus. All of them have been admitted to a nearby private hospital, where it was reported that one has suffered a head injury and is in a critical condition.

The incident occurred as the slab from the third floor of the building fell at around 2:00 pm, where these students - Snehal Tare, Pooja Sonawne, and Monika More - were sitting near the building’s entrance. Due to this incident, Tare suffered a head injury, Sonawne’s hand got hurt and More suffered back and hand injury.

Commenting on the incident, Sheetal Sheth, Senate member, said, "Buildings in the MU campus are in dilapidated condition. Keeping the same in mind, a structural audit will be carried out of all such buildings and we will take necessary action against the architect and the guilty developer. We will also raise this question in the upcoming Management Counselling meeting."

All the three injured students are pursuing MA from Mumbai University.
