While majority of the students feel anxiety and excitement during the declaration of exam results, the students at Ismail Yusuf College felt confusion and shock. After the declaration of HSC results, 50 per cent of the students studying in XII Science at the college situated in Jogeshwari, failed in the examinations.

However, the students were in disbelief and soon started protesting in the college campus, as they felt that the results were incorrect. The protest was successful and after the re-examination of 157 students, 62 students have passed. The movement was first reported on Mumbai Live.

Students later realised that they were not given marks for performance and oral examinations. The students later questioned the authority to which they said that they'd already forwarded their scores to the education board.

The tensed students started protesting against the college on June 4 where along with the students, their parents, as well as Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists, participated in the protest. The students even went on to display their anger in front of the Ministry. In response, Education Minister Vinod Tawde ordered an inquiry which later revealed that the whole slipup was a result of the college’s negligence.

Eventually, the Education Board decided to conduct a re-examination of the students in which, 62 students out of the 157 students cleared the examination.
