For the last few years, there has been an increase in the number of students failing the ninth standard examinations. However, the students will be happy to know the measure taken by the education department to minimise this problem.

To reduce the number, the Education Department has decided to conduct a re-examination for the students who fail to clear the exams in the ninth grade and it will be implemented from June this year.

Most schools desire that their turnout of all over percentage of 10th class students is good. Thus, the schools often set difficult papers for the final examination of 9th standard but the number of students failing in 9th class have increased over the years.

Earlier, the students who failed in 9th standard examinations were eligible to take 10th standard examinations. However, the education department has dismissed this and has decided to take re-exams for the students failing in 9th standard for them to be eligible for the next class.

Schools have responded in the favour of this decision and said that this will also help improve the school percentage.
