A recent survey by an EdTech firm revealed that nearly 67 per cent of parents in Mumbai are willing to send their children to school.

The survey was conducted by EdTech company LEAD. It was held amongst 10,500 parents in metro and non-metro areas whose children study in classes 1-10.

The data revealed that around 59 per cent of respondents stated that their children suffered learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 22 per cent of the respondents felt that vaccination of school staff should be of top priority only then there can be total physical attendance.

The survey further revealed that 55 per cent of metro parents rated that social distancing is very crucial, followed by healthcare facilities to send their kids back to offline studying.

While addressing the media, LEAD co-founder and CEO Sumeet Mehta said that last year and a half has been difficult for teachers, principals, and especially for students. He further added that financially poor children had faced an enormous learning loss due to the inaccessibility of the internet and devices.

The survey showed that nearly 67 per cent of Mumbai parents feel better interaction in a physical classroom. He said to the media that "schools need to be treated as essential utilities."

Last month, August 2021, had reportedly begun a campaign to complete the vaccination of teachers and non-teaching staff by September 5.
