According to the latest reports, after two years, physical exams will become compulsory for all undergraduate students from the second to the fourth year at IIT Bombay. Similarly, the second year postgraduate students will also be taking in-person examinations.

Based on accounts, since November 2021, exams at IIT Bombay have been conducted in the hybrid mode wherein in-person attendance was compulsory for students on campus while those, outside were permitted to appear for their exams online.

However, for the final examinations, students from all these classes will have to return to campus. It has been reported that the exams are slated to commence from mid-April. In light of this, narratives claim that the varsity is looking to enforce pre-coronavirus normalcy by April 1.

All students, other than those from the first-year undergraduate and postgraduate courses, have been called back to the campus by the administration, cited reports. Presently nearly, 70 per cent of the aggregate 12,000 students are on campus.

On the other hand, recently, in January this year, a 26-year-old postgraduate student from IIT Bombay allegedly jumped off the terrace of his hostel in Powai. The student was claimed to have been battling depression for which he was receiving treatment. Accounts claim that he resided on the fourth floor of the hostel and jumped off the terrace of the seven-storied building.
