After receiving frequent complaints from junior colleges about students not attending classes and only attending practical lectures, education department made a decision that students will have to mark biometric attendance and machines will be installed for the same.  

This decision was taken, on July 15, to monitor the attendance of the students. However, the decision has not been implemented, yet.

Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Aurangabad Division were asked to implement this decision for academic session 2018-19. However, after two months, Mumbai division’s Adhikaansh college has yet not submitted the biometric system report to the education department.

Maharishi Dayanand College Principal, T.P. Ghule said that the decision regarding biometric attendance was taken for science students studying in junior colleges. However, biometric for the FYJC and other classes couldn’t be installed because of the admission process. Now that the same is over, they will install the biometric machines.
