Several educational institutions had used Right To Information (RTI) to access the information regarding FYJC admissions and increase the transparency in the procedure. However, out of the 139 applications, only 27 were answered which raised the suspicions about a number of illegal and non-regulatory elements in the FYJC admission process and due to which the questions are being avoided and the information about the procedure is not being disclosed.

Earlier, the education authorities had converted procedure online in order to reduce the ruckus in the admission process of FYJC and had assured that the process will simplify the admission to an extent that the students won’t face problems for securing admissions. However, the reality hasn’t been so ideal as there have been regular delays in the declaration of merit lists, instances of the server not functioning along with technical glitches on the website.

Looking at this, Siscom Institution used RTI and filed 139 applications seeking answers to the FYJC admission procedure. However, the institute eventually received answers to only 27 applications. In response, Siscom’s Vaishali Bafna accused that the authorities didn’t want to maintain transparency in the procedure and hence, haven’t still answered majority of RTIs.

Despite the fact that the Education Commissioner's office has instructed the education directors to answer the queries, the commissioner’s order is being unheeded.

Although the online admission procedure is to ease the admission seeking process for FYJC, the students are more confused and have to bear the consequences. Several illegal and non-regulatory elements are present in the current admission process due to which there is a delay in receiving answers to the RTIs. If we do not get the information, then we will take legal action against the authorities,” said Vaishali Bafna.
