On Monday, April 11, Maharashtra Minister of Environment and Tourism, Aaditya Thackeray inaugurated the “Mission Financial Literacy Program and Books Unveiling” at Mumbai’s BSE.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the BSE India (formerly known as the Bombay Stock Exchange) have joined hands to curate a financial literacy course. This is slated to be offered to students for grades 8 and 9 from the next academic year commencing, June 2022, onwards.

Launching the initiative, Mumbai suburban guardian minister, Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter to say, “For every young Indian, especially in schools, financial literacy will help us secure a better future for our nation and every citizen, alike. We are proud that 2 great institutions, situated in our Mumbai, @mybmc and @BSEIndia are collaborating together on Nation Building.”

Apart from thanking the officials involved, Thackeray added that with the syllabus now in place, they look to take the same to schools in other cities as well as districts across Maharashtra.

Back in February, the minister for environment and tourism visited the BSE regarding the possible collaboration to commence financial literacy classes across schools in Maharashtra. In addition to this, plans were also in the pipeline to offer guided tours of the BSE building which was anticipated to ameliorate the city’s tourism front.
