In recent developments, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in an address to the state has informed that the examinations for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) will take place in a week's time

Thackeray further stated, "Last time when the exams were postponed, I'd assured you it won't be further postponed when next date is declared. Today it was postponed due to COVID-19. I assure you that postponement isn't for 2-3 months but for a few days. The exam will take place in a week's time."

The examinations were scheduled to be held on March 14. Meanwhile, the dates for the same have been postponed for the fifth time in the last one and a half years. Earlier, the students had expressed outrage with the exam cancellations. Moreover, hundreds of students took to the streets of Pune in order to protest against the delay.

With the spike in cases of coronavirus across the state, restrictions are being imposed in many districts. Keeping the same in mind, the exam is being postponed and it is also said that a new date will be issued soon for the examination.

Meanwhile, in the past, after the Supreme Court adjourned the Maratha reservation, the demand for postponing the MPSC exams was gaining momentum, post which, the Thackeray government had taken a big decision to postpone the examination to be held on October 11, 2020. At that time, the Chief Minister had made it clear that no student would be disqualified as the examination was postponed.
