Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on Thursday, September 3, 2020, approved the final year examination for students, which will now be conducted from their respective homes. As per recent developments, the written examination will be held in the first week of October.

Talking about the same, Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant,  said that the officials will try to release the results October 31, 2020. He spoke to the media and confirmed the same, after meeting the governor and vice-chancellor. Samant further said that the final report regarding this decision will be submitted by 12 noon on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Emphasising on the decision, he said that the officials insisted the exam be held at home, and it was approved by the Governor, keeping the coronavirus outbreak in mind. The decision was released keeping the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines in mind, however, over the last few months, the state government has been trying hard to cancel examinations, to ensure safety for students amidst the pandemic.

It is said that the department is planning four types of exams, both online and offline, and the final report was expected to be ready by September 3, 2020. Once the government receives the report on Friday, officials will review the same and send it to the universities immediately without delay.

Practical examinations will be conducted between September 15 and 30, 2020, and are expected to be conducted in a simple manner. University Vice-Chancellors have been asked to take a decision in this regard. Furthermore, efforts are also being made to ensure students do not visit the centres for practical examinations.
