Following the summer break and in the midst of the rising COVID-19 cases, students across the state returned to school

On one hand, the Maharashtra government enforced directives to limit the spread of coronavirus amongst students, on the other, they encouraged schools to celebrate the reopening of schools. With this, they aim to create an atmosphere of excitement.

Returning to school encapsulates a range of emotions that stem from purchasing books, raincoats, uniforms, polishing shoes and reliving the summer vacation with school friends.

With Mumbai schools opening their doors today, Dr Madhuri Sagale from Orchids - The International School, Thane in a conversation with Mumbai Live elaborated on how this year their focus is on comprehending the interest of students as well as their skills to be able to nurture their talent so that they can reach their complete potential.

Sagale added, "We try to cultivate and encourage creativity, self-confidence, empathetic behaviour and leadership skills amongst them. The school has successfully integrated value-based education with modern teaching-learning methods, thereby providing the teaching framework which leads to the holistic development of the students.

Speaking about the pandemic, she elucidated that the school was the torchbearer in offering prompt virtual classes without adversely impacting the student's learning experience. The school has now come full circle by reopening physical classes from June 6, 2022, onwards.
