The first merit list of students seeking FYJC admissions, which was to be declared on 10 July at 5 pm, has been delayed by a few hours.

Sources say the list will now be put up at 7 pm or 8 pm. The FYJC admissions online process, which has been hit by technical and other glitches from the word go, has faced another hurdle apparently.

FYJC aspirants are hoping they will crack the first merit list as this year, many students have secured 100% marks. It is also being anticipated that cut-off of the first merit list will cross 90% marks benchmark.

This academic year, 14 students have secured 100% marks in SSC examination and 10,991 students have secured 90% -95% marks. 2,35,484 students have applied for FYJC admissions. The state education directorate has asked all students to secure admission based on the colleges they are allotted in the first merit list.

This year, many students have secured 100% marks due to added marks of arts and sports and this straight away affected the admissions. From the next academic year, students taking the SSC and HSC examinations stand to score an additional 20 marks from viva examinations and science practicals.

The online process had encountered glitches even during the time given for filling the forms. The website was pulled down for two days before it became operational again.
